The Top Indian ODI Cricketers Of The Year

The year 2017 had been one of the best years for the Indian Cricket. The mighty Indian team successfully defeated England, West Indies, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka (twice) in bilateral series and came up as runners-up in the Champions Trophy in the same year. The same team became and retained the No.1 tag in the ICC ODI ranking table.

The team’s position would not have been so if the players wouldn’t have been so agile and determined on-field. But there have been some cricketers who were clearly outstanding with their performances. So today let us take a look at the list of the best Indian ODI cricketers of 2017.

5) Mahendra Singh Dhoni

The wicket-keeper and former captain of the national side have always been an example of an ideal cricketer to youngsters. Although there were some questions raised about his delay of retirement, Dhoni proved his haters wrong, playing fabulously against the Sri Lankans when the top order was crumbling against the mystery spinner, Dhananjaya.

He scored 788 runs at an average of 60 with a strike rate of 85 in 22 innings with 6 fifties and a best score of 134 against England. He also added 30 dismissals in the wicketkeeping tally.

4) Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The Indian pacer has been improving since his debut and also picked the purple cap in last year’s IPL. Kumar had all the opposition troubled with his variations. He can seam, produce off-cutters, slowers, and swing in both ways. He was handy in batting too and scored an unbeaten 53 in a match-winning 100 run stands with M.S Dhoni against Sri Lanka.

In the bowling section, he added 28 wickets at an average of 33 while giving just 5 runs per over. He picked up a 5-wicket haul once. His best figure of the year was 5-42.

3) Rohit Sharma

The opener in the team had his ups and downs last year but whenever he picked up momentum, he was unbeatable. He scored 1292 runs in 21 innings with a strike rate of 99.4 at an average of 71.8 which included 6 centuries and 5 fifties. He scored 208 runs against Sri Lanka which was his best score and third double century overall (also a record).

2) Jasprit Bumrah

This player has been in the news and limelight for his slingy and unusual bowling and his ability to grab wickets so easily. In 2017, Bumrah took 39 wickets at an average of 26 with an economy of impressive 5.14. He had two 4 wicket hauls with a best of 5 for 27. He can also be considered as a revelation of 2017.

1) Virat Kohli

You might have guessed it already. There was no one better than Kohli last year. With extraordinary consistency and the ability to survive in the most tensed situation, his grit and self-belief have played an immense role in his success. He is often touted as the modern Tendulkar. The captain of Men In Blue ably handled the team very well and still scored runs without any apparent issues.

He amassed 1460 runs with a strike rate of 99 in 26 innings at a whopping and mind-boggling average of 76.8. He had 6 centuries and 7 fifties to show with the highest being 131.
